Know which cable we replace

The cable on your house, not the span from the pole.

This service addresses the service entrance cable secured to the structure. Long exposure to sunlight and weather can leave its outer jacket brittle, cracked or peeling.

We replace both the line-side cable, from the utility connection point at the service head toward the meter, and the load-side cable associated with the existing service equipment.

BGE’s aerial service drop is not included. BGE performs the final utility connection.

Signs worth having checked.

01

Cracking or peeling jacket

Look for visible deterioration on the gray cable jacket from a safe location. Do not touch the cable or disturb cracked insulation.

02

Loose cable or damaged weatherhead

Tell us about missing supports, movement or visible damage to the service head. We assess the cable and supporting equipment together.

03

Water or inspection concerns

Mention water near electrical equipment or a written inspection finding. Meter or panel damage and other necessary corrections are quoted separately.

Standard-price limits: overhead-fed residential service; service head no higher than 25 feet; standard cable lengths and access; existing suitable meter/panel equipment retained. Equipment relocation, replacement, extensive repairs or unusual access require a written scope adjustment.

Separate responsibilities

Our installation. BGE’s final connection.

We handle the electrical installation, permit application, required service inspection, and BGE application and coordination on your behalf. BGE approves the utility service arrangement and service-equipment location and performs the final utility connection.

Our installation can be scheduled promptly, subject to availability, required approvals and safe utility arrangements. BGE’s final connection has a separate schedule. Allow approximately 12 weeks in some cases, and potentially longer; this is not a guaranteed utility turnaround time.

Clear payment milestones

30% deposit after acceptance of the written proposal.

Remaining 70% when our contracted installation is complete and passes the required local meter-release or service inspection.

Final payment is not contingent on BGE’s subsequent utility connection. We remain responsible for our contracted work and any corrections attributable to it. Exact scope, inspection obligations and milestones are stated in your proposal.

Do not interpret utility lead time as a promised outage duration. The safe installation and power-transfer sequence is confirmed for your property.

Before you request service

Useful answers.

Do you replace damaged aerial utility wires?

No. This offer does not cover the utility aerial span or other utility-owned conductors. Contact BGE about utility-wire damage. Stay away from fallen or damaged wires.

Will my panel need to be replaced?

Not automatically. We review the existing equipment and applicable requirements. If it is suitable for reuse, the scope is cable replacement rather than a service upgrade. Necessary additional corrections are priced before work begins.

How much working time should I allow?

Approximately four to six hours for a standard cable replacement. Safe outage arrangements, inspections and BGE’s final utility connection have their own requirements.
